Alpine Canada Snow Stars and the Strive Program are skill development guides that offers coaching/instructing education and evaluation resources and an assessment tool for alpine, ski cross and para-alpine skiers. Following these concepts and benchmarks, the Heights has created a “site specific” version of a Snow Stars Program to utilize the benchmarks and skill assessment criteria that is relevant to our terrain.
The Heights specific Snow Stars information can be found on our website however, you are encouraged to explore Alpine Canada’s website and the Strive program for valuable information and reference.
U10 Race – Intermediate– I can ski on MOST hills with comfort. My skis are parallel on Blue slopes but I may start my turns with a snow plow on steeper slopes. I can ride without assistance. I am comfortable in a group environment.
U12 and up Race – Advanced – I am a “Parallel Skier” and can comfortably ski at higher speeds with my skis parallel always. I can ride all lifts and take direction in a group setting. This is the minimum required level to enter U12 and up race programs.
10 Week COMPETITIVE RACE PROGRAMS U10 TO U19 (8-18)
“ For those wanting a FUN, competitive race and training program”
Full Core Program – Sat and Sun – 10 weeks – $1,900
1 Day Program – Sat or Sun – 10 weeks – $1,200
All or our race programs are led by ACA Certified Ski Coaches. The emphasis remains on skill acquisition and improvement as these young athletes’ progress through the “learn to train” and “train to train” phases of development. These phases incorporate “Decision Training” strategies wherein the athlete begins to learn to make decisions and accept responsibility for their performance, a strong element in their growth both as an athlete and as an individual. Athletes train and travel as a team. Competition events are to be focused on the development of ski racing while continuing to promote the development of overall skiing and life skills. Skill development will continue through technical free skiing and gate training.
